Who We Are:
Confessions of a Band Mom
Forwarded from Tara Topel...
So I have a confession to make!
For the past two years (of which my daughter was a freshman, then a sophomore), I considered myself a "Sports mom." I played sports myself in school and knew what they were all about. I did attend one band competition last year and had a great time, but continued to hide behind my poor excuse of not really knowing what this "competitive band thing" was all about.
Well, when the opportunity to be the Volunteer Coordinator came about, I jumped right on it. I've learned a lot over the past few months and along with it has come...regret!
Regret that I didn't dive in sooner. Regret that two whole years have gone by without being involved in something so fun and so rewarding. I know my daughter doesn't always say so, but she knows I'm there and she appreciates it. Don't look back in a year or two with regret! And to all you dedicated already involved people out there- Please don't judge! ;)
This brings me to you. If you are one of those parents, friends, or relatives that is not so sure just how to be a Band Volunteer, I am inviting and urging you that NOW is the time!! I've made it my personal goal to get every single band student to involve at least one person in their lives outside of band to dive into our 2017 Rock River Concord Season with me. Please help us make this the BEST year ever!
Parents/ Siblings/ Grandparents/ Cousins/ Family Friends/ Supportive Community Members
This Band program or any can not function with out the dedicated hours and talents of our many generous volunteers. Volunteering your time and talents is a great way to give back/ pay forward, and spend some quality time with your band student.
We are always looking for volunteers of all sorts. Please consider volunteering.
The list on side bar provides some of the job descriptions, but we always happy to accept what ever sort of help we can get. If you have a talent or passion that you believe the band could use don't hesitate to ask. I am sure we can find a home for you and your talents.
